2016 Football Recruiting Update

Rebels Thriving in All Major Sites

2016 5-Star Ole Miss Commit QB Shea Patterson

Ole Miss Head Coach Hugh Freeze had this 2016 class in mind awhile ago, and he is very smart for having done that. The top five recruiting class that Hugh Freeze put together consisted of four 5-stars, all of which are projected first-round picks for the 2016 NFL draft. If that does indeed happen, Ole Miss will HAVE to reload with much more talent to stay as an elite program. For now, Ole Miss has the #5 recruiting class in three of the four major recruiting sites(ESPN, Rivals, 247sports), and the one other site, Scout Recruiting, has the Rebels at #6. The class already has 13 commits and hopefully many more to join it. Ole Miss' class is led by 5-star QB Shea Patterson out of Shreveport, Louisiana. Although the four major recruiting sites are very different in their rankings of players and teams, ESPN is the only site without Shea Patterson as a 5-star(#38 in ESPN 300, 4-Star). Although ESPN is low on Ole Miss' QB commit, it has defensive tackle commit Benito Jones out of Waynesboro, Mississippi as a 5-star(#11 ESPN 300) when all other sites have him a star lower. That's two potential 5-stars, and it is early June. WR commit DeKaylin Metcalf out of Oxford, Mississippi is an all-around 4-star, but he is a capable 5-star because that is what he used to be. Many say that Metcalf could move up to a 5-star after having gone to some camps and impressing the scouts. But this recruiting process is not even close to finished with. Shea Patterson told the media that he will be the Rebels' leading recruiter to get many more talented players into Oxford. Check my twitter for more recruiting updates, @OM_Sports.
