Malik Newman Chooses MSU

Malik Newman(6'3 SG from Callaway HS in Jackson, MS) made his decision at noon on Friday. His decision took awhile -- I know, but finally, the wait is over. Malik Newman's going to Ole Miss was not at all ideal, and I surely hope that none of you were surprised by his choice, Mississippi State. His father's attending there and State's hire of Ben Howland certainly helped. It was not until this last week or two when MSU showed up on the radar. Earlier this week, news spread about Malik Newman already making his decision to attend Mississippi State. He contacted the Clarion Ledger, and he told them that his decision is not made and that his choice was between Kansas, Kentucky, State, and Ole Miss. The almost certain one-and-done chose State, and I know--it does not make sense. But I will not get into that. The bottom line is that Ben Howland just landed a huge player to add to his NBA collection next year...probably. In other news, former 5-star Nick King, whom Memphis had had on their roster last year, chose to resume his talents at Alabama. Ole Miss, once again, was in contention for him, too.
