Recap -- Ole Miss vs. Alabama

Ole Miss' Big Saturday Propels Series Win

Game 1

In game 1, Ole Miss came out swinging. They were collecting hits as if it were no big task at all, and they ended this game with 17 hits. Junior Cameron Dishon finished 4-5(career high hits) and Sophomore Colby Bortles set a career high with 5 RBI. Junior LHP Christian Trent(6-4) pitched a season long 8.0 innings, allowing 2 runs -- one earned. Mike Bianco said that this was one of the most, if not the most, complete game the Rebels have played this season. FINAL: Ole Miss 10, Alabama 2.

Game 2

Before 10,119 fans, the largest crowd of the season and the sixth-largest capacity in Swayze Field history, Sophomore Brady Bramlett was too much to handle for the Crimson Tide. Bramlett(5-2) pitched 7.1 innings with 9 K's and allowing 4 hits. Senior Scott Weathersby helped the two pitchers out-duel Alabama. The Rebels finished the game with 8 hits, and Alabama finished the game with 4 hits. Mike Bianco said, "We played well for 18 innings. We swung it well in the first game. We got some good pitching. [Christian] Trent was terrific, giving up just one earned run, and then we get a shutout in the second game." FINAL: Ole Miss 4, Alabama 0.

Game 3

Freshman RHP Will Stokes was the starter for Sunday, and he let four runs go in the first inning alone. After Bianco had knocked him out, Jacob Waguespack would come to take his place. The Rebels were down wire-to-wire. Austin Knight, after having hit his first career home run in Game 2, went yard for a second straight game, and it would make the game 4-2. It was Alabama's game from there. Wyatt Short had one of his worst games of the season, but we all have those. It was unfortunate not to play well on national television (ESPN), but the series is ours. Ole Miss falls to 23-22, 10-11 SEC. #RebsBSB is now 4 1/2 games back of LSU in the western division. FINAL: Ole Miss 4, Alabama 13.
