Sugar Bowl Preview

"Ole So Sweet"

Junior QB Chad Kelly hoisting the Egg Bowl trophy after the 38-27 win.
Unless you live under a rock, you know that #12 Ole Miss will play #16 Oklahoma State in the Sugar Bowl on the night of January 1st, 2016. Rebel fans were expecting a Sugar Bowl bid after having beaten Mississippi State in the Egg Bowl, 38-27, because it is quite obvious that Florida is an inferior team to the ever-so-powerful Alabama Crimson Tide. The tide would roll in the SEC Championship, 29-15, but there was an unexpected defeat earlier that Saturday. Ole Miss was expecting to play Baylor because surely they would beat a 4-7 Texas team, right? They did NOT. Texas defeated Baylor, 23-17, and the Rebels knew OK State was the team.

Ole Miss is one of five FBS teams to play in the last two "New Years Six" bowl games, but the Rebels want to forget its bowl game last year against the Big 12, a 42-3 embarrassment for the Southeastern Conference. While the Rebels' losses have been spread out throughout the season, the Oklahoma State Cowboys started off their season 10-0 and surged all the way to the #5 spot in the CFB playoff rankings for Week 11. They ended their season with two consecutive losses to Baylor and Oklahoma, not to mention their rivalry game was a 58-23 rout.

The greatest common factor with these two squads is their elite offenses. Here are a few stats for you. Ole Miss averages 505 yards of total offense, good for 12th nationally, while OSU averages 475, or 19th nationally. The majority of both of these team's yards comes from their passing attacks. Ole Miss averages 334 passing yards per game, a stat which ranks 10th in the country while OSU averages 357 passing yards a game, a stat which ranks 7th in the nation. Ole Miss averages 40 points per game to OSU's 41, but the Rebels allow only 23 points a game to OSU's 29.

Both defenses statistically are not great, but Ole Miss has the clear-cut edge on the defensive side of the ball. The Landshark defense has many of its players from the #1 ranked defense in the country last year, and this defense definitely has potential. Having said that, the rebels will likely be without Junior DT Robert Nkemdiche after his incident from Saturday night in Atlanta, Georgia, an occurrence which led to him being charged for marijuana possession. Ole Miss has a 56th ranked total defense to OSU's 96th ranked total defense. The Rebels and Cowboys' offenses are very similar and are about the same, but the Rebels' defense has the edge.

Will it matter in the Sugar Bowl?

Good question. We'll find out at 7:30 PM CT on ESPN on New Years Day.

Let's hope the Rebels leave New Orleans victorious.

Ole Miss Basketball Preview 2015

New Faces, Same Expectations

Senior Guard Stefan Moody is Preseason First Team All-SEC for 2015
Just like most years in the preseason, there is a large question mark surrounding the Ole Miss basketball program. Many are wondering how the new faces will contribute, and others are waiting to see whether some guys on this roster will step into new roles smoothly. However, these questions are normal for a new-looking team like Ole Miss, but Andy Kennedy seems always to pull through with any roster he is given. The only known on this basketball team is the star from Kissimmee, Florida, Stefan Moody. As a junior, Moody led the team in scoring with 16.6 points per game, a stat which was fourth in the conference. He led the conference in FT percentage with .903, a stat which was a respectable seventh in the country. But anyways, the point is this guy is the real deal, but he cannot do it alone.

New Faces

Andy Kennedy has brought in some new players who are looking to contribute immediately. The new guards include Sam Finley, Rasheed Brooks, Terence Davis, and J.T. Escobar. The only new face from the forward position is graduate-transfer Tomasz Gielo, a 6'9" stretch-four from Liberty University. From what I have seen, it looks as though Sam Finley will take over the point guard role as Jarvis Summers graduated months back. It is clear that Ole Miss will need key contributors out of this group in order to reach the NCAA Tournament for the third time in four years.

Familiar Faces

As previously noted, Stefan Moody is a familiar face that Rebel basketball fans have come to know very well. The familiar faces include Moody, Martavious Newby, Anthony Perez, Sebastian Saiz, Marcanvis Hymon, and Terry Brutus. Newby is one with much experience under his belt while he has played 84 games in his first 3 seasons, and he is easily the best defender on this squad. Anthony Perez is another senior who will have to have an increased role this year after having dropped from 7.1 from 2.6 in PPG from 2013-14 to 2014-15. However, Perez averaged 24.5 PPG for the Venezuelan national team in the summer. Also, Sebastian Saiz will have to boost his role in order for the Rebels to have success this year. The junior from Spain averaged 7.6 PPG with 5.5 RPG last year, and with Dwight Coleby having transferred to Kansas, AK will have to rely on Saiz for post duties. Hymon and Brutus have both seem slim minutes during their times as Rebels, but as Brutus tries to get back healthy and on the floor, Hymon will have his role significantly improved from his freshman year where he averaged 1.2 PPG.

With all of the new faces, it is very tough to put a postseason prediction down for this team, but after a glance at the 29-game regular-season slate, I think high teens-low twenties in the win column would be likely for this team. An NCAA Tournament bid would not be surprising, but even though predictions do not matter, I have not seen a website having the Rebels in the tournament. Do not forget; the NEW Pavilion at Ole Miss is scheduled to open January 7 against the Alabama Crimson Tide. ICYMI, here is the schedule for the 2015-16 season.

Ole Miss' Unlikely Maze to the CFB Playoff

Path to the Playoff

Vaught-Hemingway Stadium
The Ole Miss Rebels(7-2, 4-1 SEC) need to win out and need some help from other teams in order to sneak in the CFB Playoff. There are a few schools the Rebels will need to cheer for and cheer against in these next few weeks, but obviously, the main goal for the Rebels is to win their next game. The #18 Rebels have a while to go before they will even be considered for the top 4, but if this debate continues throughout the end of the month into December, that means Ole Miss will be the 2015 SEC Champion.

First of all, Ole Miss needs to beat likely Florida in the SEC Championship, a win which may cancel out a loss in the committee's eyes. A win over Alabama, LSU, and the SEC East Champion would be very attractive.

In this weekend's LSU at Alabama game, Ole Miss would like LSU to win for this reason: if LSU wins, they will likely move to number 1, and if Ole Miss beats the number 1 team, then we will go even higher up the rankings. Ole Miss needs some help in the Pac-12 also. The Big 12 and Big Ten should be the two locks for teams getting into the playoff with Ohio State, Michigan State, TCU, Baylor, and Iowa in there. A two-loss SEC team with great wins like the Rebels could have should be above a one-loss team from the other conferences in the Power 5.

Also, Ole Miss needs Florida State to win this weekend over Clemson. With as weak as the ACC is, the committee should leave any one-loss ACC team out in my opinion. Clemson would need to run the table to get into the playoff most likely because of their strength of schedule being so low in that weak conference.

Additionally, the Stanford-ND winner will be key. The winner of that game would likely be given a spot in the playoff, and the Rebels need all of the eliminations they can get. Stanford's hardest game behind ND is California, and ND's toughest opponent behind the Cardinal is at Pittsburgh.

Lastly, Memphis would need to lose a game to eliminate them. Memphis' only shot of getting in would be running the table because no non-power 5 one-loss team would EVER get in. The committee would likely give Memphis head-to-head over Ole Miss if they were to both run the table, so the Rebels are cheering for Memphis opponents.

As Ole Miss fans, we just need to cheer our Rebels on to a hopeful and unlikely SEC Championship, and we just need to pray everything else falls in the right place. I know the playoff is VERY unlikely for the Rebels, but all we can do is hope that God blesses the Rebels with some magic and upsets around the country.

Recap -- (19)Ole Miss at Auburn

Rebels Squeak Out Big Road Win on the Plains

WR Laquon Treadwell Makes Tremendous Catch To Help Secure Win At Auburn
The Ole Miss Rebels were looking to take care of business in a hostile environment in Jordan-Hare Stadium.

With a defender tugging and draped on his back, Laquon Treadwell was given an opportunity by Chad Kelly to make a big play. He did just that.

After a gruesome injury in 2014's heart-breaking loss to the Tigers, Treadwell let everybody know that Auburn would "feel his pain" in this game. They did just that. The junior from Crete, IL, had 7 receptions for 114 yards and a touchdown. He also had one pass for 21 yards on a trick play.

Many thought the SEC's leading receiver should have been given more opportunities, meaning that the Rebels should get him the ball more. In the end, you cannot complain, but everything seems to be better when the ball is in number one's hands. Treadwell's thoughts on his huge touchdown reception: "I think every player on our team wanted to make that play. So when you get that opportunity, you've got to make it. The team was counting on me. The ball came to me, and I just had to make a play".

For the second straight week, the rushing attack did wonders for the offense. The Rebels had 156 yards rushing, a stat which was more than an Auburn rushing kind of team. They took pressure off Chad Kelly, and it made it more difficult for the Auburn defense to defend a more balanced offense. What a coincidence that two of the Rebels best rushing games occurred when LT Laremy Tunsil was present and playing.

Defensively, the Rebels played well. They did not, however, play as well as they did against Texas A&M, but you do not see many defensive performances like that to be honest. The defense allowed 427 yards of offense to Auburn but held Auburn to four field goals. Those four field goals were key in the Rebels' victory. If the Landshark D does not bow up in the red zone, the outcome of this game could have been very different.

QB Chad Kelly had a solid game for Ole Miss. He went 33/51, 381 yards, 2 TD's, and 2 INT's. Kelly is seventh in the country in passing yards with 2,856 yards. He also leads the SEC in passing yards by 808 yards. 808 is a large number, guys. He is tenth in the country in TD passes with 20, and that stat also leads the best conference there is in CFB.

This was not a pretty win for the Rebels, but it was a road win nonetheless in the toughest conference in America. This game puts the Rebels at 7-2(4-1), and the Rebels' SEC Title hopes still remain. This win keeps Ole Miss ranked 19th in the AP Poll but propels the Rebels to 19th in the USA Today Coaches Poll. Starting this week, those polls do not matter. The College Football Playoff poll comes out Tuesday night, November 3rd. I will tweet where the Rebels stand(@OM_Sports).

Next Game: Arkansas, 2:30 CT on CBS in Oxford, Mississippi.

Recap -- #15 Ole Miss at #2 Alabama

Ole Miss Goes Back to Back on Alabama

HC Hugh Freeze Hugging QB Chad Kelly and LB C.J. Johnson After the Win

Alabama entered Saturday night's game looking for revenge on the Ole Miss Rebels after having lost to the Rebels the year before in one of the biggest upsets in Ole Miss Football history.

Ole Miss(3-0, 1-0) left Bryant-Denny Stadium with its first win in Tuscaloosa since 1988. Yes, that's a long time, folks. None of the players on either roster were alive when the Rebels last won there. 27 years to be exact. The Crimson Tide(2-1, 0-1) had been 25-1 in Tuscaloosa against Ole Miss and had NEVER lost two straight at any time in the series.

The last two games versus Alabama have gone down to the wire and were settled with the assistance of key Rebel interceptions.

Ole Miss Head Coach Hugh Freeze, in an interview postgame with ESPN sideline reporter Heather Cox, said, "We certainly think we're at a point now where it's not a shock...I still say it would be an upset in most peoples eyes to do it here". Certainly, unless you missed the memo, everybody is calling this an upset, but the Rebels think of this as a new normal.

Ole Miss QB Chad Kelly played tremendously in his first big road test in the SEC. He went 18-33, 341 yards, and 4 total TD's(1 rushing). In the first half, Hugh Freeze said that Kelly needed to settle down and calm down his adrenaline a bit, but in the second half, Kelly was outstanding. He outplayed Jake Coker and Cooper Bateman, and Kelly is being talked about by many around the country.

Laremy Tunsil was not available for this game against the best front seven in college football. Surprisingly, it didn't affect the outcome of the game, but Ole Miss will need their best offensive player for many key games this year. It is still unknown when he will return.

The defense for Ole Miss played all right, but toward the end of the game, the Landshark D was giving up many points and letting the Tide right back into the game. Luckily, the Rebels escaped, but Alabama can sure wear a team down. No, it does not matter how good your defense is; Alabama will wear any team down. Even a team with Robert Nkemdiche. Robert Nkemdiche is double-teamed basically every play, and he still managed to get 6 tackles, .5 sacks, and 2 TFL. He'll make good money in the NFL some day...

Ole Miss has moved to number 3 in the AP Poll while Alabama has dropped to 12. In the USA Today Coaches Poll, Ole Miss moved to 5 while Alabama dropped to 12.

ICYMI: This play is possibly the craziest play I've ever seen involving Ole Miss (66-yard TD to Quincy Adeboyejo).
ICYMI Part 2: Here, on that twitter page, is a video of Hugh Freeze dancing with the team with the song "Back to Back" by Drake in the background. You'll have to scroll a good bit to find it, but the tweet says, "Ole Miss back to back". Ironic because Ole Miss beat Alabama Back to Back. See the connection?

FINAL: Ole Miss 43, Alabama 37

Next Game: vs. Vanderbilt at 6:00 PM CST(ESPNU).

Hotty Toddy. On to the next one...

#15 Ole Miss at #2 Alabama FB Preview

Ole Miss Ready for a Big Road Test

(Top) Bryant Denny-Stadium, (Bottom Left) WR Laquon Treadwell, (Bottom Right) TE O.J. Howard
For the 25th time during the Nick Saban era, College Gameday will broadcast from the site of a University of Alabama football game. College Gameday will be at the site of Ole Miss versus Alabama for the second year in a row. This game is a big one. Ole Miss was the only team to beat Alabama in the regular season in 2014, and I am SURE Alabama fans, coaches, and players have not forgotten about that big upset. According to Bleacher Report, Nick Saban has never lost a league home opener in his tenure at Alabama(8-0). Alabama is 25-1 against Ole Miss at Alabama, a stat which includes 12 straight victories. Needless to say, this game at Alabama will hold arguably Ole Miss' most talented team in a very long time. Both of these teams have new starting quarterbacks(Ole Miss' being Chad Kelly and Alabama's being Jacob Coker), and we will really see what these quarterbacks are made of under the bright lights at Bryant-Denny Stadium. So far, Chad Kelly has looked better for sure, BUT Ole Miss has played two horrific teams: UT-Martin and Fresno State. Against Fresno State, Kelly was the man under center for 7 drives...all were touchdowns. However, Jacob Coker has not played great, but he has not played awfully. This weekend we will found out MUCH about these two squads, and the quarterback position is a big one. It is still unknown whether arguably Ole Miss' best player, Laremy Tunsil, will debut his season on Saturday, but it is a huge concern for the Rebels. Having him would obviously boost the Rebels' chance of getting the win on Saturday. Most importantly, the nation's best offensive tackle would make it much easier on Chad Kelly and the running game. Saying Ole Miss needs Laremy Tunsil is an understatement. If I were you(Ole Miss fans), I would expect a good game but a loss. I honestly believe the Rebels have a good shot to win this one, but I would not get my hopes up in this road test. There are still so many question marks for both teams, but I know that this is a chance for revenge for Alabama, it is in Tuscaloosa, it is a night game on ESPN, and it will be a CRAZY Bama atmosphere.

PREDICTION: #2 Alabama 31, #15 Ole Miss 23.

Line: Alabama -6.5

Channel/Time: ESPN, 8:15 PM(Central Time)

Recap -- Ole Miss vs. UT-Martin

Ole Miss DOMINATES UT-Martin, 76-3

Junior WR Laquon Treadwell Leaping After a Reception

The Ole Miss Rebels were looking to answer some questions in their "cupcake" season-opener versus the Tennessee-Martin Skyhawks. The most important of all the questions was the quarterback position. On Monday, Head Coach Hugh Freeze told the media that Junior Chad Kelly would be the starter for Saturday's game, and that was the case. Although it was against an FCS team, Kelly looked great. In my opinion, Kelly should be the clear-cut starter. Obviously, he will need to back up his performance today with another good performance against Fresno State next Saturday(2:30 PM, ESPN2). Kelly went 9-15, 211 yards, 3 total TD's(1 rushing), and one interception. (BTW, that INT occurred because of a Laquon Treadwell drop that bounced off his hands). The other two QB's, Ryan Buchanan and DeVante Kincade, played well, not great. Buchanan went 4-6, 58 yards, 2 TD's, and Kincade went 6-7, 55 yards, and 1 TD. Another question for the Rebels was the ground game. Again, Ole Miss did play UT-Martin, but the running game looked very good. The Rebels had 338 total rushing yards on Saturday, and their leading rusher was fourth-string Eugene Brazley with 88 yards, a total which includes a 70-yard touchdown. Senior starting running back Jaylen Walton had 3 carries, 65 yards, and 2 TD's. That big question mark aligns with the big offensive line question mark. There are still questions with the offensive line, but perhaps, the biggest question is Laremy Tunsil. Tunsil was suspended for the game today as the NCAA investigates a case involving him and agents(old story). Mel Kiper, Jr., predicted Tunsil to be chosen number two in the 2016 draft behind Ohio State's Joey Bosa. It is still unknown whether we will see him in uniform against Fresno State. ICYMI, Robert Nkemdiche obtained his first college touchdown as he rumbled 31 yards down the sideline on a pass from Ryan Buchanan. "That was for mom," Nkemdiche said. "It's rare that she can come. Coach Freeze and I came up with it, and we worked on it in practice." 76 points will tell any normal person how the offense played. Defensively, the Rebels were not so great. Arguably, the BEST defense in the entire country gave up 290 total yards to an inferior football team. Rebel Defensive Coordinator Dave Wommack, I'm sure, was not pleased with their performance, but they did only give up 3 points. Overall, this was a great game for Ole Miss, and there were some big question marks that are coming closer and closer to being answered in Oxford, Mississippi.

2016 Football Recruiting Update

Rebels Thriving in All Major Sites

2016 5-Star Ole Miss Commit QB Shea Patterson

Ole Miss Head Coach Hugh Freeze had this 2016 class in mind awhile ago, and he is very smart for having done that. The top five recruiting class that Hugh Freeze put together consisted of four 5-stars, all of which are projected first-round picks for the 2016 NFL draft. If that does indeed happen, Ole Miss will HAVE to reload with much more talent to stay as an elite program. For now, Ole Miss has the #5 recruiting class in three of the four major recruiting sites(ESPN, Rivals, 247sports), and the one other site, Scout Recruiting, has the Rebels at #6. The class already has 13 commits and hopefully many more to join it. Ole Miss' class is led by 5-star QB Shea Patterson out of Shreveport, Louisiana. Although the four major recruiting sites are very different in their rankings of players and teams, ESPN is the only site without Shea Patterson as a 5-star(#38 in ESPN 300, 4-Star). Although ESPN is low on Ole Miss' QB commit, it has defensive tackle commit Benito Jones out of Waynesboro, Mississippi as a 5-star(#11 ESPN 300) when all other sites have him a star lower. That's two potential 5-stars, and it is early June. WR commit DeKaylin Metcalf out of Oxford, Mississippi is an all-around 4-star, but he is a capable 5-star because that is what he used to be. Many say that Metcalf could move up to a 5-star after having gone to some camps and impressing the scouts. But this recruiting process is not even close to finished with. Shea Patterson told the media that he will be the Rebels' leading recruiter to get many more talented players into Oxford. Check my twitter for more recruiting updates, @OM_Sports.

Recap -- #2 Ole Miss vs. #4 CSU Bakersfield (Los Angeles, CA Regional)

Rebels' Building Year Comes to an End

Errol Robinson Settling After a Hit

The Ole Miss Rebel Baseball Team's season came to an end in Saturday's low-scoring showdown. One swing of the bat by CSU Bakersfield's Soloman Williams was the difference in the game. Both teams recorded 7 hits, but Ole Miss was not able to come through with runners on base while tallying 1 hit in that regard. Sophomore Errol Robinson was Ole Miss' biggest threat, and he tallied the Rebels' only run. He went 3-4 with a double to lead Ole Miss. He was about all Ole Miss had today. Defensively, Redshirt Sophomore Brady Bramlett(7-4) pitched a good 7.0 innings, allowed two runs on seven hits, struck out five, and walked one. "I thought Brady (Bramlett) was terrific. The truth of the matter is, he didn't make one mistake, I made one mistake. We tried to sneak a fastball into (Soloman) Williams and obviously he got all of it and really, that was the baseball game." says Coach Mike Bianco postgame. 5 seniors played their final games with the Rebels and those include Scott Ashford, Austin Knight, Sikes Orvis, Sam Smith, and Scott Weathersby. Many say this was Mike Bianco's best year of coaching in his career at Ole Miss, for he did very much with the little talent and experience he had been given. Having been 16-18 to being a two seed in a Regional is quite good in my opinion. In my opinion, this was a building year, and it was a fine building year. FINAL: Ole Miss 1, CSU Bakersfield 2. Hotty Toddy, and ON TO FOOTBALL SEASON, RebelNation!

Post-Spring Preview of Ole Miss Football

Can Expectations Come Reality?

Robert Nkemdiche(Left) and Laquon Treadwell(Right) on the Front Page of Athlon Sports
This season, Ole Miss seems to have its most complete team in awhile. High expectations become higher after having seen Mel Kiper, Jr.'s 2016 Mock Draft. He has Junior OL Laremy Tunsil going 2nd, Junior DT Robert Nkemdiche going 4th, Junior WR Laquon Treadwell going 7th, and Junior S Tony Conner going 20th. All four players topped the 2013 insane recruiting class. Although most mock drafts do not end up completely true, this prediction puts added pressure on this team this season. When you have three top ten players and four top twenty player on your roster, you should be winning many games. If the "football gods", as Neal McCready would say, came down and gave Hugh Freeze 8-4 or maybe even 9-3, he probably would not take it. This statement may seem a little crazy, but I believe if you have four early first-round caliber players, National Championship should be on your mind. No, I'm not saying that Ole Miss should or will go to the CFB Playoff, but it could certainly happen. In my opinion, a sub double-digit record is not a success. A 10-2 regular season record sound about right, for the Rebels have to visit the State of Alabama twice: at Alabama, at Auburn. Having said that, neither of those teams are much better(if any better) than Ole Miss, but home field advantage is everything. If Ole Miss fixes the OL health issue and find a QB that will benefit the team most, I would keep some big things in mind for this season, Rebel Nation.

Egg Bowl Baseball RECAP

Ole Miss Completes 3-Sport Sweep on State

Showers in Right Field After a Sikes Orvis HR.

Game 1

In game one, it was Errol Robinson's night. He drove in a career-high 3 runs, all of which were with 2 outs, including what would be a game-winning run in the 8th inning. Junior LHP Christian Trent(7-5) gave up three runs -- two earned -- in eight innings of work. "It was a good night all around," Trent said. "The offense was good. I felt great out there, and the defense was good again. It's good to come out on top against the rival, especially in the first game." This win improves the Rebels' record to 26-24(12-13 SEC). The bulldogs would drop below .500 to 24-25(8-17 SEC). FINAL: Ole Miss 4, MSU 3.

Game 2

This game, however, belongs to Sikes Orvis. He may look like a 45 year old man, but he can smack some dingers. A six-run first inning surely helped the Rebels to victory, but Mississippi State got theirs as well. The pitching was not all that great to say the LEAST. 23 combined runs will tell that story. Brady Bramlett(6-3), Ole Miss' consistent Saturday starter, pitched 6.0 innings, allowing six runs on nine hits and picking up his sixth victory of the season. All Ole Miss starters had at least one hit, and the Rebels stayed hot with runners in scoring position, going 7-12. "We were aggressive," Orvis said. "We took the first punch and brought the fight to them, which is what you want out of your offense. We wanted to come out and put runs up, and we did a good job of doing that tonight." FINAL: Ole Miss 13, MSU 10.

Game 3

Ole Miss' final game drought was looking as if it were continuing. State took a 5-0 lead in the 4th inning, and the Rebels looked as if they were folding. They were not. This game also belongs to Sikes Orvis, who hit 2 solo home runs by the 6th inning. Senior Scott Weathersby had an awful day, but every pitcher has his fair share of those. It would not matter. The score was 7-2(State) heading into B9, and #RebsBSB was looking for a rally. It started out with a Sikes Orvis single adding to his spectacular weekend, and there was no looking back. With #DucksOnThePond and 1 out, Errol Robinson singled through the 4 hole, and that would make the score 7-4. After a big hit by Colby Bortles, the game was tied. Yes, the game was tied. 7-7. We headed to extras. After State had gotten nothing from the top of the 10th, Ole Miss would just continue with their hot bat. DH Freshman Nic Perkins was hitting around .410, and he was up with Tate Blackman on third base(winning run). He hit a chopper into left field, and THE REBELS WON IT. "I knew it was getting through at contact" exclaimed Perkins. This win gave Ole Miss its first major three sport sweep(Football, Basketball, and Baseball) since 1972. 7-0 against those guys. Sounds good doesn't it? This win brought Ole Miss' record to 28-24(14-13 SEC). Not only have the Rebels clinched a spot in the SEC Tournament, this sweep brings Ole Miss' tourney chances even closer to reality. Ole Miss' RPI is now 33, and a #1 SOS(Strength of Schedule) will not hurt. Hotty Toddy.
Next Game: @Arkansas State, Tuesday, May 12, 6:30 PM CT. Not televised.

Recap -- Ole Miss vs. Alabama

Ole Miss' Big Saturday Propels Series Win

Game 1

In game 1, Ole Miss came out swinging. They were collecting hits as if it were no big task at all, and they ended this game with 17 hits. Junior Cameron Dishon finished 4-5(career high hits) and Sophomore Colby Bortles set a career high with 5 RBI. Junior LHP Christian Trent(6-4) pitched a season long 8.0 innings, allowing 2 runs -- one earned. Mike Bianco said that this was one of the most, if not the most, complete game the Rebels have played this season. FINAL: Ole Miss 10, Alabama 2.

Game 2

Before 10,119 fans, the largest crowd of the season and the sixth-largest capacity in Swayze Field history, Sophomore Brady Bramlett was too much to handle for the Crimson Tide. Bramlett(5-2) pitched 7.1 innings with 9 K's and allowing 4 hits. Senior Scott Weathersby helped the two pitchers out-duel Alabama. The Rebels finished the game with 8 hits, and Alabama finished the game with 4 hits. Mike Bianco said, "We played well for 18 innings. We swung it well in the first game. We got some good pitching. [Christian] Trent was terrific, giving up just one earned run, and then we get a shutout in the second game." FINAL: Ole Miss 4, Alabama 0.

Game 3

Freshman RHP Will Stokes was the starter for Sunday, and he let four runs go in the first inning alone. After Bianco had knocked him out, Jacob Waguespack would come to take his place. The Rebels were down wire-to-wire. Austin Knight, after having hit his first career home run in Game 2, went yard for a second straight game, and it would make the game 4-2. It was Alabama's game from there. Wyatt Short had one of his worst games of the season, but we all have those. It was unfortunate not to play well on national television (ESPN), but the series is ours. Ole Miss falls to 23-22, 10-11 SEC. #RebsBSB is now 4 1/2 games back of LSU in the western division. FINAL: Ole Miss 4, Alabama 13.

Next Game: Tuesday, April 28, Pearl, Miss vs. MSU

Malik Newman News

Malik Newman Chooses MSU

Malik Newman(6'3 SG from Callaway HS in Jackson, MS) made his decision at noon on Friday. His decision took awhile -- I know, but finally, the wait is over. Malik Newman's going to Ole Miss was not at all ideal, and I surely hope that none of you were surprised by his choice, Mississippi State. His father's attending there and State's hire of Ben Howland certainly helped. It was not until this last week or two when MSU showed up on the radar. Earlier this week, news spread about Malik Newman already making his decision to attend Mississippi State. He contacted the Clarion Ledger, and he told them that his decision is not made and that his choice was between Kansas, Kentucky, State, and Ole Miss. The almost certain one-and-done chose State, and I know--it does not make sense. But I will not get into that. The bottom line is that Ben Howland just landed a huge player to add to his NBA collection next year...probably. In other news, former 5-star Nick King, whom Memphis had had on their roster last year, chose to resume his talents at Alabama. Ole Miss, once again, was in contention for him, too.

Looking Forward to the 2015 FB Season

Previewing the 2015-16 Season

Spring News

This spring, Ole Miss has piled up the injuries. From what I've heard, the offensive line number is getting to the point where Ole Miss may not have enough players to split up teams in a scrimmage. Notable injuries at that position include Laremy Tunsil, Aaron Morris, and Robert Conyers. Injuries are never a good thing, but maybe it helps to have the veterans sit out while the youngsters get reps and show what they're made of. We'll have to see. Other notable injuries: Markell Pack(unkown injury and status), Jordan Wilkins(Sprained MCL, day-to-day), Mike Hilton(Broken thumb, out for spring), and Laquon Treadwell(80% healthy, according to Coach Freeze). Also, this spring has consisted of a 3-way QB competition: Redshirt Sophomore Devante Kincade, Redshirt Sophomore Ryan Buchanan, and Junior Chad Kelly. Chad Kelly, in many people's eyes, is the favorite right now, but Coach Hugh Freeze says that the competition will go into fall and that there is no leader at the moment.

FB Schedule

Ole Miss vs. UT Martin 9/5, Ole Miss vs. Fresno State 9/12

Ole Miss starts out with two fairly easy home games. These are two games that the Rebels should win convincingly, and if not, there's possibly a problem. Neither of these teams seem to be a threat to an SEC-caliber team, much less one of the better teams like Ole Miss.

Ole Miss at Alabama 9/19

Ole Miss' first SEC game is most likely the toughest challenge of the year. To be completely honest, I do not think the Rebels will come up on top in this one. I do not think it will be a blowout, but in my opinion, the chances of winning at Alabama for ANY team are slim to none. Although I think Ole Miss has the talent to pull it off, I think Bryant-Denny Stadium will be looking for revenge of the Rebels.

Ole Miss vs. Vanderbilt 9/26

Ole Miss' second SEC game looks as if it will be the most winnable and/or easiest SEC game of the year. With Vanderbilt not looking to make any major improvements, Ole Miss should simply blow them out. Ole Miss beat Vanderbilt by 38 points in 2014, and that game was in Nashville. Be looking for a convincing win in this one.

Ole Miss at Florida 10/3

Ole Miss at Florida could be a very good game. Ole Miss will most likely be the favorite(depending on their start to the season), but losing at the Swamp would not be surprising. Almost all of us remember the last meeting between these two teams in the Swamp, Ole Miss defeated the eventual National Champion Gators 31-30. What a game that was. Seemed like yesterday when Ole Miss' Greg Hardy was on the front cover of Sports Illustrated sacking Tim Tebow. But we are in a new age. In my opinion, Ole Miss captures the big win and moves on to 4-1.

Ole Miss vs. New Mexico State 10/10

Ole Miss has another fairly easy home game here. This game should be another non-conference blowout, but we all remember Jacksonville State back in 2010. Although this is a significantly better team, it can happen. Despite all of that, this is a win in my opinion.

Ole Miss at Memphis 10/17

Ole Miss should capture this quick road trip up to Memphis. This is a scary game, for Memphis finished the 2014 ranked 25. They are a dangerous team, and in my opinion, this is a game that you should win. They do not play any teams with the caliber of Ole Miss, so they will hype this game up and will be ready. Win in my opinion, though.

Ole Miss vs. Texas A&M 10/24

This game can be a game where Ole Miss receives a big, fat loss on the schedule. After last years blowout win at Kyle Field, the Rebels can overlook this home game. Ole Miss vs. Texas A&M at Vaught-Hemingway Stadium has been all Aggies, but they had Johnny Football then. My point is that it can happen. DESPITE ALL OF THAT, I think the Rebels capture a huge win, and they move to 7-1.

Ole Miss at Auburn 10/31

This game, in my opinion, will be a nail biter. Auburn and Ole Miss are two projected great teams playing on a spooky, Halloween night. In my opinion, I think Auburn pulls off the big win over the Rebels, but obviously, I could be wrong. This was easily the hardest game to choose a winner. Hopefully, I will be pleasantly surprised. Rebels fall to 7-2.

Ole Miss vs. Arkansas 11/7

In this game, I am super, super confident. Arkansas simply destroyed the Rebels, 30-0. I think the Rebels get them back and punch them right in the mouth. I have Ole Miss getting the big home victory over a good Arkansas team.

Ole Miss vs. LSU 11/21

Ole Miss hosts a very talented LSU team in late November, and I think this one will be a great game. Ole Miss' Vaught-Hemingway Stadium will be full capacity in this one. LSU is projected to be a much better team compared to last year, for their youngsters will grow. Ole Miss gets the big win in my opinion here.

Ole Miss at Mississippi State 11/28

Ole Miss has a better team than those guys this year. Ole Miss also has not won a game in Starkville, MS since the Eli Manning days, 2003. A&M should be a mediocre-good team this year, for they lost so many seniors from last years historic team. I think the Rebels FINALLY pull off the victory at Davis-Wade Stadium. Ole Miss finishes 10-2, 6-2 SEC in my projections. HDT.

Recap -- Ole Miss at Arkansas Series

Rebels fall in Early Weekend Series

Ole Miss and Arkansas squared off Thursday night on ESPNU to start off the series. In this game, it was somewhat close throughout the first few innings, but Arkansas used a huge 5th inning to spring to their second SEC victory, 10-3. In game two, the Rebels used a three-run second inning to power them to tie up this series. Redshirt sophomore from Bartlett, TN, Brady Bramlett(4-1), was left with the pitching duties in game two. Bramlett has been Ole Miss' most consistent pitcher of the season. Scott Weathersby had 4 K's over three innings of work, and LHP Wyatt Short closed the game off for the Rebels. Cameron Dishon and Colby Bortles both went yard in this game, making this the first time since March 1st at UCF where the Rebels hit two homeruns in a game. In game three, Freshman Will Stokes was looking to push the Rebels to their second straight series win. He would come up short, but it was a great effort by the youngster. Senior Catcher Austin Knight went 3-4 with an RBI. Wyatt Short came in the game in the 6th inning, but it was not enough. FINAL: Arkansas 5, Ole Miss 2

Next Game: Tuesday March 31 at Memphis, 6:30 PM.

Recapping the Last Week of Ole Miss Baseball

A New Team Every Game

Game 1

The young and talented Ole Miss Rebel Baseball team was looking forward to hosting the No. 1 team in the country(Florida) at arguably the greatest atmosphere in College Baseball today. In game one of the three game series, Ole Miss started off strongly. After a Will Golson double to right field, Sophomore J.B. Woodman went yard to right field(about 370 feet), and it was 2-0 early. In the sixth inning, Austin Knight was up to bat with 1 out and Errol Robinson at second and Tate Blackman at third. Knight slapped a base hit, and both runs scored. Florida would add a run in the seventh inning, but it was all REBS throughout. FINAL: Ole Miss 4, No. 1 UF 1. Here are the Highlights.

Game 2

In the first inning of game two, Senior Sikes Orvis was up to bat with men on first and second base. What did he do? He smoked a three-run shot to right field, and Ole Miss had another early lead over the No. 1 team in the country(according to D1baseball.com). In the third inning with a man on first, Sikes Orvis nailed a RBI double to the right field wall. Woodman scored, and the Rebels took a 4-0 lead. They never looked back. FINAL: Ole Miss 5, No. 1 UF 2. Here are the Highlights.

Game 3

Not to pump sunshine or anything, but you pretty much figured that the number one team in the country would at least get one. And they did. There wasn't much to say about the third game of the series, but the Rebels took two of three on those guys. Pretty impressive. FINAL: No. 1 UF 8, Ole Miss 4. Here are the Highlights.

Mid-week Doubleheader vs. UAB

As you see in the header, there was some bad to go along with everything in the last week. The Rebels played Tuesday against UAB, and it was not good. The Rebels were swept, and offense was limited. FINAL: UAB 6, Ole Miss 1. FINAL(Game 2): UAB 3, Ole Miss 1. I figured you did not want to see 10 second highlights(exaggeration).

Next Game: Thursday at Arkansas, March 26, 6:30 PM (TV Provider: ESPNU). Games 2 and 3 are on SECNetwork and SECNetwork Plus. Game 2: 6:00 PM, Game 3: 2:05 PM.

Recap -- (11)Ole Miss vs (11) BYU

No Quit

The Ole Miss Rebels ran into a sharp-shooting BYU team on Tuesday night. The Rebels knew that when Chase Fischer scores a quick eight points and six of those eight early points were from long-distance threes. There was one positive at that moment: The Rebels never seem to start off well. 8-0 was not good. In the first half, BYU kept a good lead throughout. The Rebels cut the lead to one at 19-18, but BYU went back to their bread and butter, the three-pointer. They shot 10-15 from three in the first half, and they shot 57% in the first half overall. Andy Kennedy said on Sunday that whenever Ole Miss shoots 40% or better, they are 18-4. The Rebels shot 30%(12/40) in the first half. BYU lead 49-32 at the break, and Ole Miss' season seemed to be just about over. The scary thing for Rebel fans was that arguably BYU's best player, Kyle Collinsworth, was out most of the first half due to foul trouble and a tweaked knee. Tyler Haws and Chase Fischer almost could not miss. There is nothing to get angry about when you are playing good defense, and they still do not seem to miss. In the second half, everything(yes, I mean everything) changed. In the first 8 1/2 minutes of the second half, Ole Miss was on a 20-8 run to cut the BYU lead down to 57-52. After a minor BYU push, Ole Miss went on another run(15-2), and MJ Rhett had 10 of the 15. With 7:15 remaining, Stefan Moody drilled a three to add to his already big total, and the Ole Miss Rebels took their first lead of the ballgame. Ole Miss forced many turnovers in the second half, and it seemed like whenever BYU would have the chance to take the lead or add to their lead, Ole Miss would steal the ball and get a bucket. Ole Miss led 87-82 with 1:33 left, and of course, Chase Fischer shot a deep three only to get nothing but net. Jarvis Summers sealed the game to make it a two possession game with 2.9 seconds left, and the Rebels are still dancing into Jacksonville, FL. Stats: Points in the Paint--Ole Miss 42, BYU 14. Points off of Turnovers--Ole Miss 25, BYU 0.
Player(s) of the Game: MJ Rhett(20 points, 2 REB) and Stefan Moody(26 points, 5 AST)
Notable Performances: Ole Miss' Jarvis Summers(11 points, 5 REB, 10 AST), BYU'S Kyle Collinsworth(8 points, 7 REB, 10 AST), BYU's Tyler Haws(33 points, 5 REB, 5 AST), and BYU's Chase Fischer(23 points, 5 REB).
Next Game: Thursday, March 19, (11)Ole Miss vs. (6)Xavier, 3:10 CT, TV Provider: TBS.

Ole Miss MBB -- NCAA Tournament

Ole Miss Slides into Play-in Game

The Ole Miss Rebels snuck into the NCAA Tournament despite two bad losses to end the year. Last week, according to ESPN, Ole Miss was a LOCK for the NCAA Tournament. A "lock" means that no matter what you do, you are basically guaranteed to be in. After the loss to Vanderbilt, ESPN said not so fast, and put the Rebels on the bubble. According to ESPN's Joe Lunardi, Ole Miss was in the "Last Four Byes", which is the best spot on the bubble. After the heartbreaking loss to South Carolina, the Rebels were in the "Last Four In" of all three of the major bracketologists brackets. On Saturday, Wyoming stole a bid after upsetting San Diego State, and that made Ole Miss, for most, the last TEAM in. The Rebels needed SMU to win the American conference to have any shot at making the tournament, and SMU ended up taking the victory. The Rebels, honestly, did not know whether they would make it or not. Nothing against Joe Lunardi, Jerry Palm, or the folks for USA Today, but those are just projections. During the selection show, NCAA.org was putting down the games on the website as they were announced. Of course, one game was leaked, and it was Ole Miss vs BYU as 11 seeds in a play-in game in Dayton. The game was removed from the website soon afterwards. This was either the biggest troll ever or good news. It ended up being good news. The Ole Miss/BYU play-in game was the last slot announced of the entire tournament. Rebel fans were very relieved to see their favorite team's name on the screen. The game is Tuesday on truTV at 8:10 PM.
Here is the teams reaction as they were announced to be in the tournament: https://vine.co/v/OVAaL2Jq6Er

Recap -- Ole Miss at No. 1 LSU BSB

Orvis Shines in Thriller at Baton Rouge

The Ole Miss Rebels have not won a series in Baton Rouge in 33 years. Yes, 1982 is a long time ago. After a game 1 loss, the Rebels looked to steal one in Baton Rouge tonight in their first televised game of the season. Christian Trent suffered his first career loss in game 1, and Brady Bramlett had the pitching duties for game 2. Bramlett handled business for the most part while getting out of some jams. Bramlett surrendered six hits and three unearned runs. Scott Weathersby pitched 3.2 scoreless innings, and he was followed by the lefty Wyatt Short, who pitched 2.2 innings without allowing a run. Sam Smith will have the pitching duties for Sunday's matchup. With the score 3-2 in the top of the ninth inning, the Rebels needed a run to stay alive. They got it. Orvis smashed one to right field after a base hit by Golsan, who represented the tying run. LSU had nothing going in the bottom on the ninth inning, and we headed the extras. In the first 4 innings, no runs were scored for either team. In the 14th inning, Ole Miss got hot. After J.B. Woodman was walked, Sikes Orvis was up to bat. The senior smashed another one all the way to the wall, and Woodman came from first base to home plate, and the Rebels took the lead. Errol Robinson was up to bat with two outs in the 14th, and he smacked one to right field, and Orvis scored. That was it for the Rebels in the 14th. It was LSU's turn to respond. Freshman Will Stokes came in, and he delivered. With the bases loaded and two outs, LSU's best player and All-American was up to bat. Of course, he nailed toward left field, and Kyle Watson ended up with an incredible catch in foul territory. The Rebels would beat the number 1 team in the country in incredible fashion. During the game, Twitter blew up with the hashtag, "#FearTheStache". In fact, it was the 6th most trending topic on twitter which is awesome. That hashtag was for, of course, Sikes Orvis because of his mustache and his incredible play Saturday night. Here are some stats -- Hits: Ole Miss 7, LSU 11, Runners Left on Base: Ole Miss 6, LSU 10.
Player of the Game: Sikes Orvis(6 AB, 3 H, 2 RBI, 1 R, Great Stache)

Spring Football Offensive Overview

Looking Forward to 2015 FB

The Ole Miss Rebel Spring practices began Tuesday, March 2, and some new faces look to fill in spaces left by old faces.

Quarterbacks

A three-way battle between junior college newcomer Chad Kelly and redshirt sophomores Devante Kincade and Ryan Buchanan will play itself out. The early favorite is Chad Kelly winning the job. Although his off-the-field troubles seem to be an issue, he has a good arm, great bloodlines(his uncle being the hall of fame Jim Kelly), and he brings confidence to the position. As far as Kincade and Buchanan, Kincade seems to have the advantage over those two. Kincade is a better fit to Coach Freeze's playbook(mobile), and Kincade has the strongest arm on the team. This is going to be fun to watch play out.

Running Backs

Senior Jaylen Walton returns comfortably in his starting role at the running back position. He and I'Tavius Mathers would split carries last year, but it usually ended up to where Walton ended up with more carries. With Mathers having transferred, the Rebels are looking for a downhill running back who can assume the backup position for Walton. Those two candidates are sophomore Jordan Wilkins and junior Akeem Judd. Jordan Wilkins rushed for an immpressive 419 yards last season, and he averaged 8.1 yards per carry as a freshman. Akeem Judd did not see any time last year as he redshirted. Wilkins 6-1, 209 lbs, Judd 6-0 220 lbs. These running backs will have to step up because Mark Dodson, another running back, also transferred out of Oxford.

Wide Receivers

The Rebels will be without star Laquon Treadwell for most of the spring, but there is still plenty of talent at the table. Quincy Adeboyejo and Markell Pack will need to step up and assume bigger roles this spring. Sophomore Damore'ea Stringfellow, who sat out the 2014 season due to transfer rules, has a Laquon Treadwell like build, and the Rebels look to having those two on the field at the same time.

Tight Ends

Star Evan Engram will have no competition for the starting job this spring. But, having Nick Parker and Jeremy Liggins depart from the position, the Rebels need someone to step up and fill the backup role. Redshirt freshman Sammie Epps could be the answer to that conflict. Epps is built more like a tight end than Engram, listed at 6-5, 215 lbs.

Offensive Line

Everyone is back off of last year's unit, though superstar Laremy Tunsil and key player Aaron Morris will spend the spring recovering from injuries. At center, Ben Still will most likely get the look. The guard spots will feature Rod Taylor, Justin Bell, early-enrollee and 5-star Javon Patterson, and others. At tackle, the rotation should be starting with returning Fahn Cooper, Robert Conyers, Christian Morris, and Sean Rawlings.

This spring is full of new and old faces, so get your popcorn ready for a battled-out spring!

Recap -- Ole Miss at Alabama

Ole Miss Captures a Huge Road Win

Ole Miss went into Tuscaloosa, AL with the NCAA Tournament in the back of their minds. Andy Kennedy captures his seventh twenty-win season in his nine-year reign, and the Ole Miss Rebels had exactly seven twenty-win seasons in the ninety-six years prior. The Rebels, having lost their last two games, were in desperate need for a road win. The Rebels were sliding closer and closer to the bubble, where the Rebels do not have much luck. With this win, the Rebels are likely a tournament team, but they are certainly not a lock. Two seniors, Jarvis Summers and Ladarius(Snoop) White, got hurt in this game, and thankfully, they returned and were fine. Stefan Moody let the Rebels with 25 points, and he shot an important 13/14 from the free throw line, where he is 92% on the season(Best in SEC, 5th best in NCAA). Summers had another off night, but gladly, that did not affect the outcome of this game. The next game is Saturday, March 7 at 8:00 PM CT, against Vanderbilt at C.M. Tad Smith Coliseum. It will be senior night for the Rebels, also. The Rebels are currently 4th in the SEC Standings right now, and the Georgia vs. Kentucky game is pending. The Rebels surge to 20-10, 11-5. Hotty Toddy.

Double Header Recap -- (18)Ole Miss at (15)UCF

Rebels Hand UCF First Loss of Season, Split Doubleheader

The Ole Miss Rebels were looking for a big series win after having lost game 1 on Friday, 4-5. The Rebels started out bright and early, and according to the Ole Miss IMG Sports Network, 7:30 was the earliest pre-game warm-up time ever recorded in Ole Miss Baseball History. The first game started with the Rebels leading 1-0, and that lead to a 3-run 4th inning for UCF. UCF's weekend was full of comebacks, for they were down 4-0 in Game 1 of the series and won 5-4, they had a minor comeback in this one, and you're about to find out about Game 3. Ole Miss would cut into that lead because of a Cameron Dishon RBI, but the Rebels were not able to bring home any more runs in the first game of the day. FINAL: UCF 3, Ole Miss 2.
Sikes Orvis and Colby Bortles after a HR vs. Arkansas State.

In Game 3 of the weekend series, Ole Miss came ready to play. The Rebels would score the first run of the game off of a double by Tate Blackman in the 2nd inning. A Sikes Orvis HR gave the Rebels a 2-0 lead in the 3rd inning, and it would be the Senior's 3 homer of the season. In the 5th inning, Colby Bortles "decided to play long-ball" as the Oviedo, Florida native blasted a solo HR to make it 3-0. Fun Fact: Colby Bortles' brother, Blake Bortles, is a former star QB at UCF. In the sixth, Sam Smith let a two run homer go by for UCF, and Jacob Waguespack would take the pitching duties from there. Wyatt Short would come into a 3-3 ballgame in the B7, and he handled business from there. In the top of the 9th inning, Ole Miss had bases loaded with, arguably, their best hitter at the plate, Sikes Orvis. Orvis would receive a 4 pitch walk that would give the Rebels the 4-3 lead with 1 out. The Rebels would get nothing else out of the inning, and it was time for Wyatt Short to step up and deliver a win. Short would record two strikeouts in the 9th inning, and he would give the Rebels a much-needed win. Although the series went to UCF, a very good team, winning the last game of the series makes the flight home much, much better. The Rebels boost to 6-4 as the UCF Knights drop their first loss of the season, 10-1.
Player of the Game: No. 38 P Wyatt Short(2.2 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 4 K)

Next Game: @Southern Miss, Wednesday, March 4, @ 6:30 PM. Hattiesburg, MS.

Ole Miss BSB Breaking News

#18 Ole Miss vs #15 UCF Game Postponed
Ole Miss RHP Sam Smith

Due to inclement weather in the Florida area, the Ole Miss vs UCF baseball game has been postponed until tomorrow, March 1. The game was originally set for 3:00 PM, but the weather caused the game to be pushed back three times and then finally postponed. The first pitch for tomorrow's double header is set for early in the morning, 8:00 AM CT. Game 2 will be 7 innings while Game 3 will be 9 innings. There will be a 35 minute period between games. After having Christian Trent pitch in the game 1 loss, Brady Bramlett will have the pitching duties for game 2. Bramlett leads the SEC in strikeouts with 19. The senior veteran Sam Smith will have the pitching duties for game 3. Sam Smith will be making his 39th start for the Rebels. 39 is not a typo. Also, although I brought this up in my first blog, here is the link to Sophomore Errol Robinson's Sportscenter top 10 play(#2): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mpzgqlU0ric&feature=youtu.be&noredirect=1

Recap -- Ole Miss vs LSU NCAAB

LSU's Second Half Surge Leads to Win, 73-63

Ole Miss played one of its worst games this season Saturday. Ole Miss lead 27-23 at the break, and it seemed as if the Rebels could pull off the big win. In the second half, LSU shot 55% from the field after shooting 30%. Also, the Tigers had a huge 50 point second half along with a great FG %.
Ole Miss shot 39% from the field for the entire game, and they shot very badly from the free throw line. The Rebels shot 62% from the line, and that is not good for the second best free throw shooting team in the country. Notable Games: Tim Quarterman had a triple-double for the Tigers with 18 points, 10 rebounds, and 10 assists. Stefan Moody was Ole Miss' leading scorer with 15 points on an off day. Ole Miss falls to 19-10, 10-6, and LSU surges to 21-8, 10-6. Joe Lunardi's bracketology will update on Monday morning. Ole Miss' next game is at 17-11 Alabama. Game is scheduled for 6:00 PM on March 3. (TV Provider: SEC Network).

Ole Miss Basketball

Ole Miss vs. LSU (2/28/15)

The Ole Miss Rebels(19-9, 10-5) will face the LSU Tigers(20-8, 9-6) at the Pete Maravich Assembly Center on Saturday February 28, 2015. The Rebels are coming off of a 76-72 loss to the Georgia Bulldogs after winning 8 of 9, and the Tigers are fresh off of a 23 point beat down at Auburn. This is a very big game for both teams, for both teams are not a lock for the NCAA Tournament. Ole Miss is currently an 8 seed in ESPN's Joe Lunardi's bracketology, and the Tigers are a 10 seed. Earlier in the year, the Tigers came into Oxford and beat a team who hadn't found their identity, 75-71. The Rebels hope to not only get revenge, but they hope to boost their NCAA Tournament resume with a good road win at LSU.

Recap -- Ole Miss vs. UCF BSB

(18)Ole Miss vs. (15)UCF

In game one of the weekend series, the Rebels fell short to UCF, 4-5. The Rebels held the lead for most of the game, and they even lead 4-2 in the 8th inning before UCF tied the game at 4 going into the 9th. The Rebels did not get anything to go in the 9th, and UCF ended up having 2 runners in scoring position with 2 outs. A walk-off base hit ended the game, so we have to look forward. UCF goes to 9-0 while the Rebels fall to 5-3. ICYMI, Errol Robinson made SportsCenter's Top 10. He was number two.

Player of the Game: JB Woodman(3 AB, 2 H, 1 RBI)

Next Game: Today, 3:00 PM
